The GCVE initiative launched this project to take Common Platform Enumeration (CPE) and Package URL (PURL) maintenance to the next level through a collaborative interface. Contributors can propose updates, moderators can review changes, and everyone can track how records evolve.

In addition to the web interface, a public API is available for integrations and automation, and a full database dump is provided so organizations can mirror the data in their own environments.

The backend software is open source, so anyone can install their own instance and use the GCVE data dump to maintain a local database of updated vendors, products, and CPE records.

The system builds on the existing CPE dataset maintained by the CVE Program and NIST. These datasets are available in the public domain and serve as the baseline for collaborative improvement.
